What is Somatic Therapy?

The word somatics comes from the Greek sōma, which simply means “body.” In classical Greek it distinguished the physical body from the psychē (soul or mind). In modern somatic work that meaning expands into “the living body known from within” — the felt, sensing self. This is the heart of my approach: not a technique but a homecoming.

Somatic work is an experiential, bottom-up practice. Instead of trying to think your way into change (a top-down model), we begin with the body itself — its sensations, rhythms, and breath — and let it guide the process of healing, regulation, and integration. Trauma, grief, and stress often settle quietly in the body long before the mind can name them.

If you’ve been living mostly in your head — managing, thinking, planning — your body may be carrying stories, signals, and wisdom that have been waiting to be heard. This work offers a safe, compassionate space where your body can finally speak and you can gently listen, remembering the connection between mind and body that has always been yours.

Foundations of My Work

My approach is informed by the following modalities

  • Polyvagal Theory (nervous system regulation & co-regulation)

  • Attachment Theory (healing relational wounds & building secure bonds)
  • Embodiment Practices (connecting mind, body & spirit)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) (working with inner parts)

  • Parts Work & Inner Child Healing (integrating the fragmented self)

  • Somatic Psychology (body-based approaches to healing)

  • Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (trauma resolution through somatic awareness)

  • Post-Traumatic Growth & Resilience (transforming pain into power)

I also weave in expressive arts, mindfulness, and nature-based rituals, allowing healing to unfold in a way that feels intuitive, compassionate, and deeply human.

My Guiding Values

    • Wholeness: You are not broken. Every part of you belongs.

    • Safety & Consent: We go at the pace of your nervous system, not the pace of the world.

    • Compassionate Curiosity: We meet your patterns and pain with gentle inquiry, not judgment.

    • Integration: Healing is not just insight — it’s felt, embodied, lived.

    • Soft Power: True power is rooted in softness, presence, and self-trust.

    • Creativity: Expression is medicine. Writing, movement, and art become portals of transformation

I have walked through loss, love, survival, and rebirth. I know how it feels to hold it all together and still long to be held. I also know the quiet thrill of coming home to yourself, of tasting your own aliveness again.

If you’re longing for a space where your whole self is welcome — your grief, your rage, your softness, your joy — I would be honored to walk beside you.
